Jerry Marshall

On graduating from North Texas University, Master Potter Jerry Marshall joined the US Navy to see the world before settling down as an artist.

He landed in New York City in the early 70s. Following a series of freelance commissions, Jerry joined Earthworks and Artisans in 1983, first as a teacher, then a partner and finally as owner-manager. Jerry has taught two generations of New Yorkers (children and adults) the art of throwing and hand building for the past 30 years, making Earthworks a firm fixture of the Upper West Side landscape. (See calendar section for current class schedule)

Jerry's own original work represents the culmination of nearly 40 years of working in clay, and his pottery demonstrates the highest ideals of shape, form, and glazing technique. The pictures shown do not do justice to the actual pieces. A visit to the studio at 206 W 80th Street is a must. Jerry is at the studio Tuesdays through Fridays from 1:00pm to 9:30pm. The studio is also open on the weekends from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm.
